Language - learn Danish
The Danish language can be quite difficult to learn. Here you can read about the possibilities when it comes to learning the Danish language
Language tuition in the Ikast-Brande Municipality
If you are over 18, have a residence permit in Denmark and have been assigned a civil registration number, you have the right to receive three years' education in Danish. Danish education includes Danish language tuition and Danish social studies.
Usually you will automatically get a letter about the possibility of Danish language tuition within a month after you have received your CPR-number. If this is not the case you are more than welcome to contact Jobcenter Ikast-Brande.
Contact person: Mette Randers
Monday & Tuesday: 09:30-14:00
You will need to bring the following with you:
- EU Certificate of residence
- Your CPR number
At the job centre the staff will inform you of the times and places tuition is available. You can then choose the language school which is best suited to you, in terms of location and time. You are entitled to receive three years of Danish language tuition.
One of the language schools closest to Ikast-Brande Kommune is situated in nearby Herning. It is called Lær dansk, and you can read more about the school in English at their website laerdansk.dk/herning/en
In addition to traditional classroom-based teaching, you can take Internet-based Danish-language courses. You don't need a Danish CPR number to take these. In the Integration section at www.nyidanmark.dk website, you can find information about learning Danish online free of charge, even before you start work in Denmark.
Some language schools also offer Danish language tuition online, such as www.netdansk.eu. You can choose online tuition as part of the tuition paid for by the Government, or you can choose to pay yourself if you wish to start before you arrive in Denmark.
